2007 Oceania Continental Championships 4th February

Once again Shannon turned on a beautiful day, the crowds came to watch and EWWPT had the course and environs looking superb. The course designer created a course which was technically difficult and mentally challenging and the results of the day reflected the world class racing. The K1 Men were the highlight with tight technical, fast and accurate racing. Will Forsythe (AUS) a top contender after run one, put in another clear run but with fast clean racing by Mike Dawson (NZL), Anthony Brown and Warwick Draper he dropped to 5th place overall with a time of 188.90. Aaron Osborne (NZL) 187.74 was in second place after run one had a touch in run two dropping him to 4th place overall. Mike Dawson put down a blinder of a second run moving from 3rd position to win in a time of 185.47, just 0.12s ahead of Australians Anthony Brown 185.59 and Warwick Draper 186.66. Katrina Lawrence (AUS) took out the K1W 206.99 closely followed by Louise Natoli (AUS) 212.93 and Jackie Lawrence (AUS) in 3rd position 225.00. Louise Jull (NZL) was the first New Zealander with a time of 251.58. C1 World Champ 2005 Robin Bell (AUS) continued his winning ways taking out the C1 title in 194.45, Matthew Gabb (AUS) 203.10, Christine Fabris (AUS) 219.28 closely followed by Mark Yungnickel (NZL) 219.63. C2 Mark Bellifiore and Lachie Milne (AUS) took out the C2 title 221.30 from Robinson and Nicholas (NZL) 236.28.

2007 NZ Senior Team Announced

With Olympic Qualifications in Brazil 2007 this is an important year for all senior team members. Team memebrs are training hard and have had the expert input of Mike Druce from Australia to help finetune their technical and racing skills
